F&W Marketing was formed by Warren Draper and associates. Located a few miles south of Dodger Stadium, the company focused on bakery and deli related products such as chicken pies, fruit fillings, fresh delivered breads and rolls, fried fruit pies, and oriental cookies. In September 1983 Warren Draper separated from existing partners to form Le Grand Marketing with his son Geoff. They moved their offices to Montebello that same year. At this time the company decided to focus on products for supermarket service bakeries and for the foodservice industry. Warren's youngest son, Kevin, joined Le Grand in mid 1984, primarily to expand and service the foodservice side of the business. He developed many strong relationships with various key accounts and established sales with the top restaurant distributors in Southern California. Marc Draper came to the firm in 1985 to focus on the in-store and retail bakeries. Marc's responsibilities included bakery and ethnic distributors as well as the independent Southern California supermarkets. Le Grand soon came to recognize the importance of supplying skilled trainers for store level support. They maintained a staff of full time and temporary technicians to train store employees, open new stores, help with remodels, resets and conversions, and to launch new products. This technical support proved invaluable with sales presentations and industry trade shows. In March of 1989 the company moved its offices to Anaheim, California. 1996 saw the addition of key sales and administrative personnel. With various customers expanding geographically, Le Grand Marketing entered the Northern California region in 1999 with technical support, adding sales coverage the following year. In 2000, the company added several deli products to their product offering. Jon Erickson joined the company in 2004 as company director for Northern California. He has made significant contributions with several key regional supermarket chains and distributors. In the three years since, the territory has grown with the inclusion of several new product lines and the addition of new members to both the sales and technical support team. In recognition of the rise in the size and buying power of the Hispanic population, Le Grand Marketing began to direct more of its attention and resources to the mining of products that cater to this ethnic group. There have been a number of successful product launches within the expanding Hispanic independent grocery segment. Moving a little east in mid 2005, Mick Waite, a veteran of the bakery industry, was recruited as director of the newly formed Arizona division. 2005 and 2006 also brought the addition of a number of new deli product lines to compliment that segment of Le Grand’s operation. In October of 2006, the company moved to its present corporate office in northern Anaheim. In doing so, it expanded its capabilities with additional office space, a modern test kitchen, and expanded warehouse. One focus in the first half of 2007 has been the exploring of opportunities in the pacific northwest and the expansion of southwest sales beyond Arizona. Copyright © 2007 Le Grand Marketing, Inc. |
